Lesley first contacted us back in early January as during the winter lockdown Lesley’s mental health deteriorated due to limited contact with her friends and relatives. This lockdown was difficult for everybody but with Lesley being alone and struggling financially she was in need of support. She had heard of us from a friend and decided to see what we could offer. Lesley wasn’t all alone as she had her wonderful little cat, Benjy, keeping her company and entertaining her with his charisma.

When I first reached out to Feeding Fido I spoke to Leanne, they were so kind and immediately reassured me that they could help. I’m not one to use the internet so we went through the form over the phone which was very kind of them to offer.

The weekly food drops off by Tom whilst we were stuck inside was one of the highlights of my week and it meant I could keep feeding Benjy. He used to be a fussy eater but would guzzle down the food from Elmtree! I’m very happy with the service and I cannot thank Elmtree enough for helping me to keep my Benjy. Ann and Dave reached out to the Feeding Fido team earlier in the year. Unfortunately, Cecil their Border Terrier had cut his tail and needed to go to the vets. Whilst at the vets they spotted an ad for Feeding Fido and didn’t think much of it. However, when they went home Dave looked at what it was costing them to feed Cecil. Yearly, it amounted to £600 a year and with little finances it wasn’t a cost they could keep covering.

The volunteers have been so lovely, and Tom especially has gone above and beyond to help us. Cecil, our 11-year-old terrier is getting slower in his years and loves to chase his ball. A lot of our friends refer to him as a person as he’s got such character. Without Cecil in our lives, we would have really struggled. He gets us up every day and out for exercise. This year has been tough, and winter is never easy, now the spare money will be able to cover our heating bills for the winter.
